Wheelchair users in journalism?

A summary of the discussion is below. A big thanks to all who got involved, including those who retweeted the question.

One final note. When I was younger I wondered where all the wheelchair using astronauts were, but soon came to realise the impracticalities that no doubt lay those desires to rest.

However, it simply cannot be the case with journalism - an industry transitioning from print to digital. The traditional mobility "barriers" no longer hold true with online publishing, and with more and more wheelchair users at top universities, the talent and perspectives exist for the taking.

Now that disability is as mainstream as it's ever been, why don't those voices get a chance? No excuses remain.
